Other Committee · Meeting of September 24, 2026

Southbridge Traffic Commission lowers speed limit on part of South Street, backs autism signage. Meeting with a three-member quorum (John Swenson, Bob Lamar and Shane Woodson; Dale Farron absent), the board voted unanimously to set a 25 mph limit on South Street between Main Street and Westwood Parkway, keeping the rest of the road at 40 mph, "because South Street is becoming more and more congested." Members also approved autism-awareness signage near 26-30 Plumpton Street after reviewing families' medical documentation, plus new no-parking zones on Crane Street (325 feet) and Walcott Street (extended to 30 feet) tied to recent construction. Under new business, the board fielded an unresolved complaint about illegal parking on Marcy Street near St.

Mary's Church, telling the resident, "if I know what's happening, Kathy, we'll deal with it." The commission set its next meeting for November 19.
