Other Committee · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Southbridge's Fire Station Building Committee pushed the project's substantial completion deadline to October 8 and approved more than $1.1 million in payments. The panel ratified a $8,080.34 change order covering a wheelchair-accessibility concrete credit and dryer booster fans, leaving a construction contingency of $1,148,676.86. A project team member, Bill, told the committee cumulative payments to general contractor PDS are "just under $18 million" against a contract exceeding $20 million.

The committee also approved a $32,500 deposit to station-alerting vendor BRYX, invoices to Pomeroy Associates ($22,400.33) and Castle Blues Associates ($15,614.75), and a $50 National Grid bill to be backcharged to the contractor. Equipment purchases are running about $275,000 under the $875,000 furnishings budget. A November 16 ribbon-cutting is set, but firefighters won't occupy the building until roughly mid-December under contract punch-list terms.
