Southbridge Fire Station Building Committee Approves $1.5 Million in Contractor Invoices
Other Committee · Meeting of July 13, 2026
Southbridge Fire Station Building Committee approves $1.5 million in invoices with project at 79 percent complete. The committee unanimously approved nine invoices at its July 13 meeting, led by a $1,330,922.93 pay application to general contractor PDS for work through June 30. The committee also authorized payments to Castle Bowes ($31,230), Fire Tech and Safety ($98,867 for an SCBA compressor and fill station), WSP commissioning ($10,381 across two invoices), Yankee Engineering and Testing ($1,090 for concrete sampling), and Industrial Protection Services ($3,333 for a mobile hose cart).
Change Order No. 6 — a net credit of $32.22 driven by a $34,600 credit for deleting an unneeded police-style electronic key-control system — brings total project change orders to just $6,900 against a $1.17 million contingency, which a project participant called well below the statewide average of four to five percent. Substantial completion remains targeted for September 15, with final completion in October and a public ribbon-cutting tentatively eyed for late October or early November.
