SOUTHBRIDGE — The Southbridge Fire Station Building Committee postponed a decision on a contractor's schedule extension and cost claim, pending legal review. Larry, presenting the project update, said general contractor PDS is seeking a 51- or 52-day extension and $90,846.90 in added general-conditions costs, citing a propane tank incident and winter weather. The committee approved Change Order No. 7 for $14,336.48 by a 6-0 roll call vote, bringing total change orders to $21,230.13 and leaving $1,156,757.70 in contingency.

Members also approved roughly $1.5 million in invoices, including a $1,346,390.15 payment application from PDS, and confirmed the town is holding $878,000 in retainage with $3 million left to pay out. One member said, "I might be okay with giving them the 19 days, but I'm not okay giving them 52." The next meeting was moved to September 15.
