Select Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026

Southbridge council approved a $41,719.78 change order for Crystal Street paving after a 6-2 vote. Councilors Kelly and Klein opposed the measure, with Kelly calling it "another example of a contractor who agrees to provide a service for a fixed price" and then seeking more money. Chairman Adams used his announcements to set new decorum standards and confirmed he dissolved the Charter Review Committee as of August 17.

Town Manager Jack Jovan publicly addressed a firefighters' union Facebook post citing "415 days" without a contract, pointing to the council's approval of a $29 million fire station and $310,000 in new breathing apparatus. The council also referred proposed solar and battery storage zoning bylaws to a September 16 joint hearing with the Planning Board, voting 5-2, and approved $79,300 for Mill Street Bridge easements with one abstention.
