Conservation · Meeting of August 20, 2026

Southbridge's Conservation Commission continued its enforcement hearing on erosion violations at 107 and 111 Hartfield Drive to September 3 after neighbors reported fresh excavation near a wetland swale. Roughly 10 to 11 residents attended, with one member calling rock placement on the site an inappropriate erosion-control technique that "restricts the growth that you need to hold to the surface." Staff said accumulated fines on the property total $22,900 over four months and will appear on the owner's December tax bill if unpaid; unpaid fines could later bar the owner from future building permits. A member identified only as Cameron moved to continue the hearing; it passed without objection.

The commission also flagged a September 16 Planning Board hearing on a proposed cryptocurrency-mining and data-center moratorium tied to solar and battery-storage siting rules.
