Southbridge Town Council approved a bid to join the regional 911 district, with two abstentions.
Select Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026
Southbridge Town Council approved a bid to join the regional 911 district, with two abstentions. Councilors voted 7-0-2 Monday to authorize the town manager to sign the inter-municipal agreement for conditional membership in the Central Massachusetts Regional 9-1-1 District; Councilors Lazo and Montigny abstained. The manager said the district would verify Southbridge's eligibility and that service would start in the next fiscal year.
The council also confirmed firefighter Jacob Webb and a DPW equipment operator, each 9-0, and gave second readings to a data center definition and a 365-day moratorium. The manager reported change orders of $45,305 on the $20 million fire station, and Councilor Montigny said he would seek a no-confidence vote on the DPW director.
